John Ellis oral history interview, March 28, 2024. John tells about his childhood life in his antique family home on Main Street and his local family history in Brewster. His father and mother were teachers in the Barnstable school district and owned vacation cottages on Ellis Landing on the beachfront of Cape Cod Bay. He describes summer activities on the bay including the Target Ship, his school days, teachers, friends, activities and going into the Navy to Newfoundland and then Vietnam. Remembrance of Brewster’s loss of Skip Daley to the war. Later on, he worked a land surveyor and was able to decipher the several land holdings of his Brewster family. He touches on meeting his wife Sue, and offers a few local musings of Brewster lore.
