The best Rainbow Road in the series by FAR, no question, no contest. In retrospect, I have to admit that Mario Kart 7’s kinda ass. I wouldn’t necessarily call it “bad” but man, it had so much potential and I have gripes with it. There’s no VS. Mode in single player; no Waluigi (Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, and Lakitu are nice and dandy but who the hell wanted the goddamn Bee and Caterpillar?); kart customization was cool but everything was done better in 8/Deluxe, not to mention that a lot of the parts are lame and useless. I will say though that gliding is the game’s best aspect; it controls great and it’s not as restrictive as 8/Deluxe’s gliding (you also can’t cancel out of it unless you’re intentionally going out of the track’s way). However, 7 probably has the best Rainbow Road in both course and music. Fight me on this one. If we share any Discord servers, then you may have seen me speak on these sentiments already. Despite my negative views on the game, it doesn’t mean I’m not fond of it. For what it’s worth, I had some good memories during the 2011 holidays. My first ever cover remake! Back in 2017, I prioritized expansion/sound over limitation which is what the point of chiptune is, lmao. I feel like I’m still doing that today, and it seems to me that I rarely prioritize how much I can fit within a limit. I remember thinking to myself “Oh, this noise + percussion combo kicks ASS!” when I made the original cover back then. I also prioritized punchy percussion back then which worked in the long run since it’s one of my standout qualities. I wanna do more of these remakes because I don’t like some of my past uploads! I’m eyeing Monkey Watch and Super Bell Subway for next time. Oh, I’m 22 now! Maybe I’m overthinking things but I probably won’t do birthday uploads anymore. I don’t know, I’m starting to think that it’s too “narcissistic” or “pretentious,” like “Oh hey I did this thing! Look! It’s for my BIRTHDAY, which is TODAY!
