YOU KNOW, I haven't done this in a LONG time, and it's a slippery slope I tell ya! So yeah, as y'all know, some time back I got a set of new 16-inch RAYS alloys for the Waja (unintentionally made the car look damn garang, blardy hell), and then recently an S-Flow to replace the ageing original muffler, and a centre 'bullet' to replace the cat-con which was dead anyway. And then one of you commented and reminded me about 'extractors' which I'll admit I used to have on all my previous cars in the 90s, including the Satria GTi, so I figured, what the heck, might as well go the full-monty right, and so I did :P As always Win Soon Exhaust in SS3 did this for me, and the installation was spot-on perfect, plug & play. Honestly, the acceleration feels a LOT more eager now, the car pulls off the line much faster, whilst sounding absolutely glorious! Seriously can't wait to take this car for a proper run soon! Stay tuned for that :) PART TWO: While I was there during the new header installation process, I spied an old Ford Laser S 1.6 Hatchback - the unsung sibling of the almighty Laser TX3 1.8 - and got to talking to the owner who happens to be a foreman at the workshop next door. Well, 'lo and behold, he might be selling, it and let me have a test drive! I haven't driven this model since the early 90s when I worked for the Ad Agency handling the AMIM Ford account and I gotta say, it still runs amazingly well for something that's nearing 3 decades old, and makes a nice growl too. Mechanically it's sound (it's good when the owner is a mechanic!), and from what I can see it just needs bodywork & paint, some interior TLC and kick-ass set of alloys. I'm sorely tempted to take this on, cos the interior looks like it's survived very well, all things considered. So, "Have YOU Driven a Ford, Lately?" I've had THREE Ford TX3s in my life, it's still a fantastic car, but maybe it's time to give this unsung hero a chance.
