Die spektakuläre Ausstellung im Museum Rietberg Zürich feiert die Geschichte des ikonischen Kleidungsstücks, das untrennbar mit dem Bild Japans verbunden ist – und hinterfragt sie zugleich. Sie zeigt den Kimono nicht als statisch und unveränderlich, sondern als ein äusserst dynamisches, modisches und wandelbares Kleidungsstück. Die Ausstellung ist in Kooperation mit dem Victoria and Albert Museum in London entstanden. This spectacular exhibition at the Museum Rietberg in Zurich celebrates the history of the kimono, an iconic garment inseparable from the image of Japan, while also challenging conventional perceptions. Rather than presenting the kimono as static and unchanging, the exhibition highlights it as a highly dynamic, fashionable, and continually evolving item of dress.
