With three secret ingredients, I show you how to make the ultimate homemade holiday gingerbread soap - complete with melt and pour embeds, sprinkles, and more - to steal the crown and best the other winter soaps that I couldn't perfect. The holidays aren't complete without a little gingerbread, so I wanted to push my soap making techniques to the limit and try some things I've never done before! To start, I needed to figure out a way to make homemade soap gumdrop embeds, which was a soap challenge of its own because I couldn't find gumdrop molds anywhere! You can see my solution in the video, but it involves me making a custom DIY silicone mold from a silicone mold making kit that I got from Amazon (link below!). Next, I had to execute the second embed component - little melt and pour soap gingerbread men! This was easy peasy - just pop some melt and pour soap in the microwave, stir in some cosmetic mica colourant, and let cool. To paint their soapy faces, I needed to make a thick paint out of titanium dioxide colourant and rubbing alcohol. When it came to making the cold processed soap, I was ready to go! I had my three secret ingredients ready to add to the soap batter - ginger powder, coffee grounds, and molasses. Yes, this soap contains ginger and real molasses! Ground ginger in soap provides some gentle exfoliation and (presumably) beneficial properties for your skin, whereas molasses in soap (or adding sugar to cold processed soap) boosts the soap's lathering properties and makes the soap nice and bubbly. Adding sugar to soap does accelerate the soap batter and cause it to heat, so make to ensure that no soap volcanoes formed I made sure my oils and lye solution were at 30 degrees Celsius. A gingerbread soap isn't a gingerbread soap unless it has layers of billowy frosting on top! I suck at piping soap batter, but at least I was able to hide my imperfections with my soap gingerbread people embeds! I sprinkled some sprinkles on top, gave the soap a nice dusting of super sparkly mica, and the soap was ready to saponify! See the end of the video for the results and satisfying soap cutting! 😊 Silicone Mold Maker ➡ https://www.amazon.ca/Silicone-Making...
