After finding himself in the Sam Carlo Library where he first discovers the meaning of the word "sonder", he comes across a witch named Mara Monty who (albeit forcibly) grants him the ability to actually experience the meaning of the word, in real life-- although he definitely wasn't expecting it to happen in this way. - SO WHAT IS THIS 'SOND-R' ABOUT? sonder. (n.) the profound realization that every random passerby is living a life as complex, vivid, and intricate as your own, filled with their own ambitions, worries, routines, and relationships, making you just a minor character in their vast story. Coined by John Koenig for his Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, it’s a feeling of deep, existential connection and awareness of the countless untold stories unfolding around you. - HOW INTERESTING, MARTEN LUCIAN! I KNOW RIGHT! :) So, essentially Ethan finds himself in another person's body. Or even better, multiple people's bodies! And it's great, for a little while! But now the only catch is... that he now has to find a way back to his own body. So, he decides to make the most of it. Along the way, Ethan meets a large cast of lovable characters who he finds to all live separate, and intensely different lives from his. These characters include Courtney Carmine, the happy-go-lucky, sultry-southern country postman from Austin, Texas; Natalie Reeney, the humble silver-spoon art student from Los Angeles, California (as well as Ethan's cute love interest ;)); Cole Sylvester, the depressed teenager who puts on a brave face despite having the most depressing life of them all; and Armin Vega, the young teenage EDM DJ from the Netherlands! He now finds himself in the arduous predicament of having to experience their lives from the perspective of his own soul, and they all find themselves in a situation where each of them has to make each other's lives still function without them collapsing in pieces.
