Let's explore the depths of it in the video. Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place feels different tonight. The ancient house creaks with more than settling wood...it groans under the weight of secrets and the desperate hope of a godfather who's run out of time to be careful. Sirius Black paces the drawing room, his footsteps echoing against faded wallpaper that hasn't seen proper light in decades. Outside, London sleeps under December snow, but inside this hidden sanctuary, two souls wrestle with the impossible burden of war. Harry Potter sits hunched in a moth-eaten armchair, fifteen years old but carrying shadows that belong to someone much older. His green eyes stare into the dying fire, seeing not flames but flashes of tortured screams and Cedric Diggory's lifeless stare. Sirius stops pacing. In his hands, wrapped in black cloth that's seen better decades, lies something that could change everything. Or destroy it completely. Sirius (voice rough with emotion): "Harry... there's something I need to give you. Something I should have given you months ago." Harry (wary): "What is it?" Sirius unwraps the black cloth with trembling fingers, revealing two identical hand mirrors. They're ancient things, their silver surfaces clouded with age, their ornate handles tarnished but still elegant. Magic hums faintly around them...old magic, the kind that requires blood and love to function properly. Sirius (holding up one mirror): "These are two-way mirrors. James and I used them at Hogwarts when we were in separate detentions. Which was... often…If you look into your mirror and call my name, I'll appear in mine. No matter where I am, as long as I'm...As long as I'm alive and conscious." Harry (suspicious): "Why now? Why didn't you give this to me before?" Sirius (honest pain): "Because I'm selfish. Because I was afraid if you had a way to reach me whenever you wanted, you'd never learn to handle things on your own. But after tonight...After seeing you like this, after knowing what you're facing... I can't pretend anymore that protection means isolation." Harry (quietly): "What if it's a trap? What if Death Eaters intercept the connection somehow?" Sirius (seriously): "The mirrors only work for blood relatives or those bound by unbreakable magical connections. They're keyed to Potter and Black blood specifically. Even if a Death Eater managed to steal one, they couldn't activate it. But there are limitations, Harry. Important ones." Harry: “What limitations?” Sirius (gripping Harry's shoulders): "Promise me something. Promise me you'll use this responsibly. Don't call me during classes, don't use it for anything that could wait for an owl. And if you're ever in real danger… If you're ever facing something you can't handle alone, you call me immediately. Don't think, don't hesitate, just call." Harry (meeting his eyes): "I promise. But Sirius... what if calling you puts you in danger?" Sirius (fierce): "Then I'll face that danger gladly. That's what family does, Harry. That's what your father would have done." They establish code words that night...innocuous phrases that mean 'immediate danger' or 'all clear.' They test the connection once, Harry's reflection appearing clearly in Sirius's mirror while Sirius grins back from Harry's. The magic holds steady, responding to their shared blood and love. That first night, Harry tests the connection. Sirius appears, eyes warm with joy. Sirius (grinning): "Can't sleep, pup?" Harry (relieved): "Just... testing it." Sirius: "Your father did the same thing for a week just to make sure it works." These nightly conversations become Harry's anchor. Sirius shares James Potter's quieter moments...practicing Transfiguration for Lily, helping homesick students. Sirius (one evening): "Your father wasn't fearless, Harry. He was terrified half the time. But he did what needed doing anyway. That's not fearlessness...that's courage." Harry (thoughtfully): "Is that what I'm supposed to be doing? Being brave while terrified?" Sirius (seriously): "That's what you've been doing all along, pup. I just thought you should know you're not the first Potter to feel that way." Sirius teaches Harry to think tactically...to consider multiple options before acting, to plan for what could go wrong, to recognise when retreat is wiser than advance.
