Cameroon and Nigeria cross border operations

UN agencies and NGO partners are now conducting high risk cross-border operations, delivering food and aid to over 20,000 people stranded in Banki, between Boko Haram controlled areas in NE Nigeria and the border with Cameroon. In Banki, all houses have been destroyed and people are gathered in an overcrowded IDP camp in the middle of this ghost town. The army has secured the area but civil authorities are not yet functioning in this fragile setting. One child out of four suffers from severe or moderate acute malnutrition. Before food delivery started, MSF had estimated that 20 people were dying every day in Banki. All of the over 20,000 people in Banki, and especially children, are in urgent need of food, water and health support.
