Our very last destination - What's up next?? - WEEK 29 - Texel - The Netherlands

We spent the week in Texel, The Netherlands. This beautiful and adventurous island gave us the opportunity to make our own candles and soap, to caress baby sheep, to pick strawberries and to visit stranded seals. One hour north of Amsterdam you take a 15 minute long ferry ride to this beautiful island. There's a lot of nature and agriculture. And this was our first stop: a farm open to visitors. Our next stop was 'De Bonte Belevenis', an educational farm where the kids could make their own candle, soap and bread. The latter was thankfully consumed by the parents... Great experience for all of us, and we have enough soap for the coming months. By coincidence we drove by a strawberry farm, and the kids could pick their own strawberries (and peppers, tomatoes and raspberries). The kids could see how strawberries grow - I have to admit I had never seen that before neither - and experience that the best strawberries are the ones you pick and put straight in your mouth... We also stopped at Ecomare, a reception centre for stranded seals and other sea animals. It's combined with an interactive and comprehensive museum for kids, and we could assist feeding of different fishes and seals.
