Hey guys, new guitar on the channel, and also new style of guitar !! Hearing Julian Lage on some vintage folk OM style from Martin got me think « boy those guitars sure can work for acoustic jazz » !! I didn’t have the opportunity to try many of these in Paris (a couple of 0-17 from 1950, a 000-18 from 1929, very cool) so I went to Centrale Gallery in Pigalle to try and see what modern builders were doing. I wasn’t too excited about modern Martins (maybe I didn’t try the good ones) around 3.5k euros, that seamed mainly folk guitars and didn’t have that sparkle and sustain I was looking for. But the guy handled me a Boucher and said maybe that's the sound you're looking for … and then it happened, something very acoustic, big sustain, resonates a lot, very reactive so I had to pull the trigger. I’m playing a Boucher Bluegrass Goose model, OM hybride from Boucher Guitars in Canada, the model is BG-51-GM : it has a master grade top, torrefied, and has scalloped bracing, solid Indian rosewood back and sides. Their line Bluegrass Goose (as opposed to Studio goose) has a thinner nut width, and a bigger sound hole and is supposed to work great in loud environments etc. The guitar is strung with Elixir Phosphore bronze strings gauge 12s and I’m playing a Dunlop 0.71mm gator pick. The sound is captured by both a Neumann TLM 103 and a bluebird microphone. Feel free to support the channel if you can : www.paypal.me/acousticstandards I've decided to take a couple of student for online classes so hit me up if you're interested.
