Winding along the border of Anhui and Zhejiang provinces in China, the Anhui–Zhejiang No. 1 Highway cuts through breathtaking mountain valleys. Built along the Xin’an River and the Thousand Islands Lake, it threads together ancient villages, deep gorges, sparkling reservoirs, and striking bridges—blending the natural beauty of Anhui and Zhejiang seamlessly. On this trip, we start from Jiekou Town in Shexian County, following this scenic road toward the Qiandao Lake Bridge. This stretch is one of the most visually diverse along the entire highway. The scenery shifts from the charming river valleys of Anhui to the wide, open waters of Qiandao Lake in Zhejiang—delicate and serene one moment, grand and dramatic the next. Mountains rise in layers ahead, water stretches far into the distance, and bridges appear like jewels along the way.
