「Learn Japanese」 Passive Form (-られる Verb Conjugation) Verbs are conjugated into this form in order to be used in the Passive Form construct. To conjugate る-Verbs into the Passive Form: take the Stem-Form of the る-Verb and add the characters られる. *For る-Verbs, the Passive Form is conjugated the same way as the Potential Form. Example(s): 見る （みる） ＝ 見られる （みられる） 食べる （たべる） ＝ 食べられる （たべられる） 寝る （ねる） ＝ 寝られる （ねられる） 考える （かんがえる） ＝ 考えられる （かんがえられる） To conjugate う-Verbs into the Passive Form: if the う-Verb ends with the character う, take the Stem-Form of the う-Verb and add the characters われる if the う-Verb ends with any character other than う, take the Stem-Form of the う-Verb and add the characters a (attaching this “a” with the ending consonant of the Stem-Form to form a Japanese character) + れる.
