📍 Christy Mirack (Age 25) 🗓 Date: December 21, 1992 📍 Location: Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA On December 21, 1992, 25-year-old Christy Mirack, a beloved sixth-grade teacher at Rohrerstown Elementary School, was getting ready for work when she was brutally attacked in her home. She was beaten with a wooden cutting board, strangled to death, and sexually assaulted. Her body was found by her principal, Harry Goodman, after she failed to show up for school—something Christy, known for her perfect punctuality, would never do. Male DNA was collected from the crime scene in 1992, but DNA technology was still in its infancy. The profile was entered into CODIS in the early 2000s, but there was no match. For 26 years, Christy’s case remained unsolved. In 2018, investigators learned about investigative genetic genealogy—the same technology that caught the Golden State Killer. The DNA evidence was sent to Parabon NanoLabs, and genetic genealogist CeCe Moore used public genealogical databases to build family trees and identify distant relatives of the killer. The investigation led to Raymond Charles Rowe, known locally as “DJ Freez”—a popular wedding and club DJ who had been living and performing in Lancaster County the entire time, just 4 miles from where Christy was murdered. In May 2018, an undercover officer collected Rowe’s DNA from discarded chewing gum, a water bottle, and a plastic cup at an elementary school event where he was performing. The DNA was a 100% match to the 1992 crime scene. Raymond Rowe was arrested in June 2018. He pleaded guilty to murder, rape, and burglary in January 2019 and was sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 60-120 years. He provided no motive and gave no explanation for why he targeted Christy. This is the story of how a single piece of chewing gum solved a 26-year-old murder—and how a local celebrity hid a monster in plain sight. #TrueCrime #ColdCase #ChristyMirack #LancasterPennsylvania #UnsolvedMysteries #DNABreakthrough #GeneticGenealogy #RaymondRowe #DJFreez #ColdCaseRecords #TrueCrimeDocumentary #ParabonNanoLabs #CeCeMoore #JusticeForChristy true crime, cold case, Christy Mirack, Lancaster Pennsylvania, unsolved mysteries, DNA breakthrough, genetic genealogy, Raymond Rowe, DJ Freez, 1992 murder, cold case solved, investigative genetic genealogy, Parabon NanoLabs, CeCe Moore, chewing gum DNA, true crime documentary, justice for victims, Rohrerstown Elementary
