Skyline's 2nd segment opened to the public on October 16, allowing service and connections at important points at Pearl Harbor, HNL Airport, Lagoon Drive, and Kalihi Transit Center. A fare-free weekend with Holo Card to celebrate was held on October 18 and 19. Please consider that this recording was on fare-free weekend, so ridership on the trains were much higher than it should be at ~11 AM. Skyline runs fully above grade level, save for one station. The rail also uses platform screen doors and driverless trains, the first metro system in the United States of its size to use both. Bus routes have been added or altered to better integrate Skyline with TheBus, along with existing routes, both main and circulators, being given a terminus at or pass by Skyline Station(s). The full route of the rail was planned to run from East Kapolei to Ala Moana Center, but as of now, it only has completed 2 of 3 planned Segments. Segment 1 between East Kapolei and Aloha Stadium, opened July 2023. Segment 2, from Aloha Stadium to Kalihi Transit Center, opened October 2025. Segment 3, covering the areas of Kalihi and Downtown, is planned to open in 2031, with an extension possible to Ala Moana Center, and talks of more extensions to Waikiki, U.H. Manoa, and Ka Makana Alii. Skyline currently has stations in these areas: East Kapolei, U.H. West O'ahu, Ho'opili, West Loch Estates, Waipahu Transit Center, Leeward Community College, Pearl Highlands, Pearlridge, Aloha Stadium, Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Daniel K. Inouye/HNL Airport, Lagoon Drive, and Kalihi Transit Center. "Skyline - Always on time." #Honolulu #SkylineHNL #Train #Rail #HOLOWithUs #PublicTransportation #Oahu #Hawaii
