Within Alaska, is a geologic mystery. The more than 1,500 foot wide circular Savonoski Crater was long believed to be an impact crater. Yet, in the more than 50 years since its discovery, evidence to prove this theory has not been found. Instead, Savonoski Crater has a number of other possible origins which include a volcanic eruption, a natural gas explosion, and glacial kettles. Whatever is the true cause still remains up for debate. If you would like to support this channel, consider becoming a patron at / geologyhub .
