Hey there, I'm Evangeline here at etrailer. Today we're going to be talking about how the Yakima HighRoad roof-mounted bike rack can fit on the Yakima LockNLoad platform. Now, this is a bike rack that you see on tons of different roof racks just because of how it very easily carries the bike with the front wheel still attached and you can just transport it on your vehicle's roof. Now, if you want to pair it with your platform, because maybe you want to carry around other stuff and things like kayaks, roof boxes, bags, jerry cans, things like that, well, we're going to talk about the specific things to think about with this combination. First and foremost, you have to plan out how you're going to mount your bike rack. So the Yakima straps on the HighRoad are the same as most of their other clamps, and the straps do fit around the LockNLoad slots and secure, so they are large enough to fit. Now, for the HighRoad specifically, it does have a bracket underneath that makes it a little trickier to get everything lined up. It will still work, but you won't be able to have the same type of function as if it was on a regular roof rack. The partial function you do get is from the bracket underneath making contact with one of the slats on the platform. So you can see here as I loosen the knob, that secures our back of the front wheel. And I bring this bracket down, that bracket makes contact with that slat. So I still can load the bike up. You can see the angle of our bottom cradle here, I do have to go up and over. And I can still tighten down to our wheel, I just don't get the full folded down positioning that I would've liked. It is a possible fit, it's just not the best this one. Honestly, what I would recommend doing is taking a look at the Yakima HighSpeed, which is a fork-mounted bike rack. Yes, you have to remove your front wheel in order to use the HighSpeed, but now that you have a platform, you can also look at front wheel-mounted options, since you have all this space to load things onto. And you do have to take the time to reattach your front wheel when you get to where you want to ride, but I think that's worth it, given that this setup here, where the bracket makes contact with this slot, does make it a little trickier to load and unload your bike. So, that's just something to keep in mind. If you have any questions or if you really want to use the Yakima HighRoad with your platform because it is your favorite bike rack, this is what that will look like. This is what that experience will be like. And I hope you enjoy your journey because the most important thing is customizing your vehicle for your best adventures, and the LockNLoad platform is a great way to get you there. My name is Evangeline, and what you saw was how the Yakima HighRoad roof-mounted bike rack looks like on the Yakima LockNLoad platform.
