Today we’re making garlic Italian bread completely from scratch. This recipe makes 4 loaves of soft, flavorful bread with a golden crust, perfect for sandwiches, garlic toast, or just enjoying fresh from the oven. In this video, I show every step: proofing the yeast, kneading the dough, adding garlic and seasonings, and baking it to perfection. You’ll see the full process and tips for making your bread rise beautifully. 📌 Ingredients (for 4 loaves): 4 cups warm water 2 tablespoons active dry yeast 1 tablespoon sugar (for proofing) ⅓ cup sugar ½ cup oil 3-4 teaspoons of salt 9–10 cups all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons minced garlic Italian seasoning (to taste) Onion powder (to taste) Garlic powder (to taste) Oil for coating dough 📌 Instructions: 1. In a large mixing bowl, add 4 cups warm water, 2 tablespoons yeast, and 1 tablespoon sugar.Let sit for 10 minutes to proof the yeast. 2. After proofing, add ⅓ cup sugar , ½ cup oil, and 3-4 teaspoons of salt. 3. Begin adding flour: Start with 5–6 cups, mixing well. Continue adding flour 1 cup at a time, mixing between each addition. I added flour gradually up to 9 cups total. 4. Once the dough becomes thick, begin kneading by hand. 5. Add: 2 tablespoons minced garlic Italian seasoning Onion powder(Garlic powder should be added here too, I forgot and added it later 😅) 6. Knead the dough, then add the final cup of flour as needed and continue kneading until the dough is smooth and no longer sticky. 7. Lightly drizzle oil over the dough to coat, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours, or until doubled in size. 8. Punch down the dough to remove large air bubbles. 9. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. 10. Spray bread pans with cooking spray. Shape one portion of dough and place it into a pan. 11. (Optional) Sprinkle the top with extra Italian seasoning, onion powder, and garlic powder. 12. Cover and let rise again for 1–2 hours. 13. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes, until golden brown. 14. Let cool slightly… then enjoy 🍞 💡 Notes This recipe makes 4 loaves, perfect for freezing or sharing.
