Nickel Acetate is used as the electrolyte for nickel plating. This video will demonstate how to create and store your nickel acetate. Properly stored, you should not need to make any additional nicel acetate. We use salted vinegar as out electrolyte solution. The salt will increase the solutions conductivity and this is evident from the current draw from 0.xx amps to o.xx amps once additional salt was added to the solution during the acetate production. During the acetate production, hydrogen gas will be produced. Although gas volumes will be low, we always reccommend doing this in a well ventelated area. We have also re-purposed ERRiK to produce the acetate, and ERRiK will also be used for the nickel plating process in future projects. You can, of course use a smaller container instead of ERRiK and produce less than the 12 litres of acetate if your future plating projects are for relatively small products.
