Filipino food is amazing, and Manila is a great place to eat it, with so many choices due to the vast number of restaurants. However, trying to find the best place can be tough. In this video, we are on the hunt for the best Sisig in Manila! After a bit of research on Google and asking a few locals where their favorite place to eat Sisig was, we narrowed it down to the infamous “Aristocrat” Restaurant. It offers a blend of traditional and contemporary Filipino cuisine in an elegant setting. Known for dishes like lechon and adobo, it emphasizes quality and flavor. It's a popular choice for both casual dining and special occasions, celebrating local ingredients and culinary heritage. We walked through the bustling streets of Makati at night to get to our nearest Aristocrat restaurant branch. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly security guard and staff who showed us to our table. Sisig is a popular Filipino dish made primarily from chopped, seasoned, and grilled or fried pork, often using the pig’s head and sometimes including the liver. The meat is typically crisped up and then mixed with onions, chili peppers, and a tangy sauce made from vinegar, calamansi (a citrus fruit), and sometimes soy sauce. The dish is often served sizzling on a hot plate, giving it a smoky aroma. It’s typically enjoyed as a pulutan (a snack or appetizer with drinks) but can also be eaten with rice as a main dish. The combination of savory, sour, and spicy flavors makes sisig a beloved and flavorful staple in Filipino cuisine. We had a good feeling about this place. It was a chain, and we do try to avoid chains as much as possible while traveling, but it seemed wholesome. We ordered one plate of Sisig, two garlic rice, and some Calamansi tea (Calamansi is a small citrus fruit popular in Filipino cuisine and beverages). It tasted amazing—the pork was crispy in places, and the plate was sizzling. It was one of Jason’s favorite experiences with Sisig. It was a little expensive, but that was to be expected since we were in Makati and it was a chain restaurant. On our way home, we found just enough room in our stomachs to try some Sisig from a street food vendor. This was only ₱85. Jason didn’t like this one as much as Erin did, though. It was three times cheaper than Aristocrat, so if you don’t mind sacrificing a bit on taste, you might enjoy this one just as much. Thank you for watching!
