Abandoned Railroad Tunnel in Georgia

This was once part of the Chattanooga Southern Railroad back in the 1800's but became known as the Tennessee, Alabama, & Georgia Railway around 1911. The railroad at one time would transport iron-ore through here that was mined on Pigeon Mountain. The tunnel was built in 1890-91 and is around 1600 feet long. The tunnel and railroad are abandoned today but are reminders of the past, I enjoyed exploring and learning about the area. If you find this place please be respectful of what remains and be safe, I did not walk through the tunnel as it is flooded and could be unstable with all the water, the inside is rock lined.
