This is a full playthrough of The Combatribes for the Super Nintendo, captured directly from original hardware and displayed on a Philips 27PS55 CRT TV — a set whose rich shadow detail and saturated color handling make Technōs Japan’s chunky sprites and neon‑drenched backgrounds look better than they have any right to. The deep blues, hot magentas, and metallic highlights bloom in that unmistakable CRT way that no emulator filter can truly replicate. This set is quickly becoming one of my favorites, particularly for the third and fourth generation of consoles. Originally an arcade brawler from Technōs Japan Corp, The Combatribes hit the SNES in late 1992. The home version was directed by Yoshihisa Kishimoto, the same designer behind the original Double Dragon — and it shows. Much of the core gameplay feels familiar, with emphasis added for ground attacks and over-the-top throws that allows our protagonists to grab enemies by their ankles and swing them around like a carnival ride gone wrong.
