Gorillas enjoy frozen tomatoes during a heatwave before a sudden wet surprises for Shufai. Watch how they beat the heat with treats. The heatwave hit England hard, and the gorillas got some well-deserved frozen treats. The highlight for the troop? Frozen tomatoes. I haven’t seen them get tomatoes in a while, and knowing how much they love them, having them frozen must have made them even better in this sweltering heat. In this compilation, Ozala enjoys her tomato. Shufai, of course, found the yellow ice — no, not yellow snow😂 — just a nice lemony-looking block of ice. Ozala is fishing out vegetables from the water bucket. I love how she gives that usual stern look towards the camera. Shufai wasn’t too impressed with the water bucket. Please note, this single water bucket clip wasn’t filmed on the same day but a few days earlier when the heatwave started. I’ve included it because Shufai always does this with the bucket — I just seem to be always a few seconds too late to catch him on camera. That time I finally got him on camera, the rascal! You’d think, with this heat, he’d want to keep the water! Back to the hottest day and the tomato feast — Oumbi is searching for his frozen tomatoes, trying to see how many he can fit into his mouth. Shufai goes mad with the ice again, pulling and smashing it against a log for smaller pieces. Then - incoming silverback… Shufai does a runner. Finished off with a bit of fun. No hosepipe ban here — gorillas are exempt and truly deserve some fun in this heat. Shufai wasn’t sure what to make of it. First, he stared at the water, then tried to grab it — then the hose. He even walked upright around the stream. He really reminded me of Lope with the arms dangling like that.
