Track 9 from Idiotwin It seems poetic that Idiotwin's self-titled, debut LP - an album of bittersweet highs, bleak lows, and the anxieties of ageing - was composed over a time-period that cannot be stated with certainty. Did it start with the release of the Idiotwin EP? Did it start when 'What You Want (What Is Not Yet Lost)' was written in university accommodation a long way from home? Did it start with a grainy demo of 'When The Stars Die'? Did it start when both members were sixteen, 'Who Am I To' an idea on a school computer? As an act of defiance, it exists now, and will do tomorrow, and on and on, and after that too. Permanence against timely fear, against loneliness, against grief, against itself. Perhaps this is the "clearing in a forest". To everyone who contributed to this LP, your efforts will always be appreciated. To everyone who supported the Idiotwin LP during its completion, and who will continues to support us, words cannot express our gratitude. This is the first then. We'll see you at the second. "You've got time to get better" ~ ii Lyrics: Hello sadness come to greet you Old friend it's a sequel The yearly ritual repeateth, older again Oh I'm so happy to feel it Sitting in a room staring at the wall I will have all the fun and all the fun will be had by me So don't come in I would not want to spoil my own party Happy birthday to our son Here's to another one I hope I'm always old to see you grow old Right on schedule like we planned Talking to a drunken man Who says "I remember when you were this small" Sitting in a room staring at the wall I will have all the fun and all the fun will be had by me So how's the weather now? Don't come out, it's pissing it down Less presents from less guests present Out of sight, out of mind I would trade all of these gifts For another year of life Birthdays aren't birthdays when you're old When the candles on your cake go cold Why remind me that time can't be controlled Another year passes me by Whilst rain falls from the sky Then there was the time it came down in droves (I'm so glad you made it, So glad you're here celebrate it - with me Let's sing, shall we? Why do you cry, why do you cry Because to birthday it to age and to age is to die ...yeah great, yeah... I'll see you next year) Sitting in a room staring at the wall I will have all the fun and all the fun will be had by me Why am I older so fast? Why is it that each year never seems to last? Guests are here son, come on, come out Don't come in, I'm pissing it down Leave me to my catacomb So I can remain happiest in the room One year comes as one year goes How many left? Tomorrow knows With every one I near my total Who made the schedule, damn the plan Talking to a drunken man I'd love again to be that small I will have all the fun and all the fun will be had by me Credits: Songwriters: Frederick Bloy, Chris London Composer: Idiotwin Lyricist: Idiotwin Producer: Chris London Engineer: Chris London Assistant Engineer: Tom Branscombe Instrumentalists: Frederick Bloy, Chris London, Rebecca White, Dwayne Marcellin (violin), Ciara Cogley (flute), Tom Branscombe, Jared London (drums) Art: Paloma White Art Editor: Rosalie Bloy Check us out here! https://linktr.ee/idiotwin
