The history dates back to Sathya yuga, when Lord Brahma did a penance and got the darshan of Sri Srinivasa perumal along with HIS divine consorts. Hence the village was termed as Brahmmapuram. It is also said that the famous Tamil king Sambuvaraya worshipped this temple and contributed lands for the temple functioning. Till late 1960s the utsavams like Vaikasi Brhammotsavam were celebrated for 10 days in grandeur. After the migration of Srivaishnavas from the village, there were no proper caretakers and the poojas were stopped completely.
