Livorno is located on the northwest coast of Italy and is the third largest city in Tuscany. The port of Livorno is one of the busiest in the Ligurian Sea. From here you can get to, for example, Sardinia or Corsica. If you come to Livorno as a tourist, probably the biggest attraction is the local cathedral on Piazza Grande in the center of the city. The cathedral is dedicated to Francis of Assisi and was completed in the 16th century. But the cathedral was destroyed during World War II and reconstructed again in 1959. When you visit it, you will see paintings by local Tuscan artists. Be sure to check out the harbor where ships of various sizes are moored and there are also a couple of public swimming beaches nearby. It is possible to buy a sightseeing cruise around the coast or from there you can reach other Italian islands (e.g. Sardinia or Corsica). I also highly recommend a walk to the Mascagni terrace, from where you can see the surrounding islands.
