Kenya Theme: Empowering Girls, Transforming Communities: The Nice Place Foundation in Kajiado, Kenya Speaker: Elizabeth Soila, Co-founder and Scholarships Coordinator, Nice Place Foundation, Kajiado, Kenya. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Environmental Planning and management. She is a dedicated advocate for quality education and the inclusion of girls in educational opportunities. As the co-founder and Project Officer in Charge of Scholarships at the Nice Place Foundation, she has made significant strides in ensuring that education is accessible to all, especially in her native region of Loitoktok Kajiado County. In this presentation, Elizabeth will share her personal journey and how it influenced the founding of Nice Place Foundation, a community-based initiative in Kajiado County, Kenya. Her transformative journey shaped by community, identity, resilience, and the power of education, led to the establishment of the Foundation in August 2021 to protect and empower girls escaping female genital cutting (FGC), early marriages, and other abusive practices. Nice Place Foundation operates as both a rescue and leadership center, built on the pillars of protection, education, and leadership development. Through its Rescue Centre & Shelter Program, the Foundation offers temporary shelter, food, medical care, emotional support, and access to education. Girls also receive life skills training in areas such as beadwork, agriculture, crocheting, and coding. The Leadership Academy provides mentorship, personal development, critical thinking, entrepreneurship, and sexual health education. We invite you to join us for this inspiring presentation and learn more about the impact and achievements of Nice Place Foundation - a story of courage, community, and the unwavering commitment to empowering the next generation of young women.
