The SU42 is in fact the same locomotive as SM42 and SP42. The original class SU42 were modifications of class SM42 done during the 1970s. This modification involved the installation of a 500 volt electric train supply for carriage heating, supplied directly by locomotive's generator. The class retained the original SM42 serial number, however most of those converted have now been converted back to SM42 or withdrawn as the carriages using 500 V supply have been withdrawn. The second phase of modification was carried out between 1999 and 2000 from class SP42. The modification centered on the addition of 3 kV electric train supply. The modified locomotives were classified as class SU42-5xx. 40 of the class were eventually modified and they are based at various depots across the network. Unlike previous iteration, SU42-5xx has electric train heating powered by a separate Caterpillar diesel engine, thus not creating additional load on the locomotive's main engine while heating the train. Built for shunting purposes, SM42, together with its version SU42, are widely used in passenger traffic on non-electrified lines. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ The Reda–Hel railway is a 62-kilometre-long (39 mi) Polish railway line, that connects the Hel Peninsula with Reda and Gdynia. The railway is located in the northern part of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The line is single-track and non-electrified. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Polregio (formerly Przewozy Regionalne) is a train operator in Poland, responsible for local and interregional passenger transportation. Each day it runs approximately 3,000 regional trains. In 2002 it carried 215 million passengers. The company was founded in 2001 from the splitup of the PKP Passenger Transport Sector of the once-unitary Polskie Koleje Państwowe national rail operator into several companies to meet European Union requirements. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Chałupy is a seaside resort and a Polish village with conditions favorable for windsurfing and kitesurfing, in Gmina Władysławowo. It is situated between Władysławowo and Kuźnica on the Hel Peninsula on the southern Baltic Sea in Puck County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, northern Poland. Its population in 2009 was 376. In 1939 the village saw some fighting during the battle of Hel. The Germans captured it on 25 September, and around the same time, in its vicinity, Polish military engineers detonated torpedo warheads, temporarily transforming the Peninsula's far end into an island. Before 1 January 2015, Chałupy was part of the town of Władysławowo. Toward the last years of communist rule in Poland the locality became famous as the site of a government-legal nudist beach. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ @FrontCompVids - Follow us on Twitter!
