Leyland 285 Restoration Catch-Up | Gearbox, Hydraulics & Major Repairs

This video continues the Leyland 285 restoration from our workshop in West Cork, Ireland, bringing the project up to where it stands today. What originally started as a simple tidy-up quickly became a much larger job. During strip-down a number of serious issues were uncovered, including damaged gearbox components, previous repair work, worn pins and bushes, and major problems within the rear hydraulic system. In this catch-up episode I go through the faults that were found and the repairs carried out so far, including gearbox repairs, rebuilding sections of the rear hydraulics, and correcting earlier fixes discovered along the way. Although the engine had previously been repaired after a freeze crack, it was left assembled rather than fully rebuilt, with the focus instead placed on restoring the rest of the tractor properly. This video brings the project up to the current stage before moving into the next phase of the Leyland 285 rebuild.
