This episode continues the Leyland 285 restoration from our workshop in West Cork, Ireland, focusing on the fuel injection system. During the rebuild the injectors were removed for inspection and overhaul. The injector sleeves also required attention, and new copper sleeves were installed. After discovering the replacement sleeves were not quite correct, a set of tools had to be made to expand and seat them properly to achieve a good seal. The injectors themselves were dismantled, cleaned and fitted with new nozzles before being reassembled and tested. The injector pipework was also cleaned, painted and refitted to complete the system.
