KH Facilitech Co., Ltd., a leading manufacturer of complex steel structural components in Japan, implemented robotic automation to improve the production of large steel tunnel segments. Working with system integrator Kawaju Facilitech Co., Ltd., the company deployed Kawasaki Robotics solutions to automate welding processes for large structural components. The RA010L robot maintain consistent welding parameters—including speed, angle, and weld sequence ensuring uniform weld quality across all parts. Because the robot performs the welding operations under identical conditions, weld bead height remains consistent throughout the process. 1. First, the welding torch tip is cleaned using a nozzle cleaner. 2. Anti-spatter liquid is applied. 3. The RA010L robot moves into position in front of the workpiece. 4. The welding position is detected when the wire contacts the workpiece. 5. After confirming the welding position, the robot performs the welding operation. 6. Comparison of the workpiece before and after the welding process. 7. After welding is completed, the robot returns to the starting position. 8. Finally, the torch tip is cleaned using a nozzle cleaner, completing the process. 9. Introducing robots into welding processes—where results can vary depending on the operator—helps standardize results. 10.This improves quality consistency and maintains uniform bead height, supporting automation of the subsequent machining process.
