Ashi Hishigi (Foot Crush) is a type of foot/ankle/achilles lock found in the Japanese art of jujitsu. In our method - Jukido Jujitsu - due our self-defense orientation - it is less commonly utilized than upper body joint locks. Nonetheless, it is very much a part of our system of self-defense. In this video, Rego Sensei is making a simple correction on how to efficiently turn the attacker to his belly without losing one's own balance or base in stepping over. The key point was to lead with the hips and not with the feet. This class focused on the 20% of the 80/20 rule -- highlighting skills that are very much a part of our Jukido style of jujitsu - but emphasized less frequently (and justifiably so) than the 80%.
