UP 7097 Z-Train Intermodal North - S. Main Street Railroad Crossing, Manteca CA

(Filmed November 1, 2025) On this first day of November, I went out towards Escalon to try and catch the LRS51 local. By the time I got onto French Camp Road and started making my east, they had already left Stockton, and it wasn't until I got to Murphy Road that I finally caught up with them, and it was there that I discovered it was being led by the former Cotton Belt unit, UP 1004. The local stopped at the Atlanta siding which is near the winery and Yosemite Avenue/ French Camp Road intersection crossing and needless to say I had a feeling they were going to sit there for a while, so I headed off to Manteca to catch the ZLCTM intermodal stack train which wasn't too far out. I settled here at S. Main Street where I caught it. I haven't done this crossing in a little over two years and so far, the equipment remains unchanged. I was originally going to do Woodward Avenue with its recently installed new signals but there was too much construction happening around the crossing and I didn’t want any issues with the workers. This crossing owned by Union Pacific is an SP 1970s signal install with a bell, its lights, light heads, gates, gate lights, mechanisms and counterweight arms changed. The traffic lights at the intersection across from me flash when the crossing is active.
