Entry Level Resumes Can Be 2 Pages! You can find out more about me from my website: http://www.redincllc.com A common resume myth is that your resume must be on one page regardless of the quality of the content. This is one of the biggest myths who have been out there. "Professional" job seekers also have this myth (professional meaning those who have been in the job market for a long time.) What you want to consider is does this one page really tell enough of my story to understand who I am and the value I bring? Several years ago I did a resume for an entry level candidate, just graduated from college. She had several positions where she had some managerial responsibilities. She worked at a bank and uncovered a fraud ring. She was a manager at a coffee shop, and she had had some very good internships as well where she did some meaningful projects. When I did her resume, it came out to be two pages. And what I did under each of the positions was to make separate sections for her accomplishments. I put several bullet points that also described the basic responsibilities of the job. I sent it to her along with a cover letter. There was no fluff, it wasn't redundant, etc. I met her grandmother at a networking event, and she said that her granddaughter still didn't have a job--and what did I do wrong? I called my client and had her send me the resume she was sending out, along with the job descriptions she was applying to. What she had done was remove the accomplishments from the resume to make it fit on one page, because everyone was telling her that her resume MUST be two pages. So I put them all back into the resume, and told her, "Look, you've been doing it your way, let's do it my way. You weren't getting any responses with this one page resume, so this couldn't be any worse." She subsequently landed an interview and a job with a very large company, for a substantial position, and her career has continued to grow from there. Do NOT believe the myth that the resume must be one page or it won't work. I have an in-depth course teaching you how to fix the 5 things you're doing wrong in your job search.
