During 2017-2022 , an integrated tribal development project was implemented by CRD with the generous support of NABARD under its TDF, to benefit 596 tribal households in Aralam Tribal Resettlement Areas, Kannur district, Kerala. Cultivation of crops like coconut, arecanut, pepper, turmeric, ginger, vegetable, fruit crops, dry land paddy, sesame, etc were implemented under orchad dev development component of the project. Under livelihood component, goat rearing units, honey bee cultivation, etc were implemented. The project followed a community participatory approach in its entire life cycle. JLGs, SHGs and its Federation were formed in the first 6 months of the project. The groups were bank credit linked and about 36 Lakhs was mobilized through bank credit for implementing more livelihood activities and production sector improvement. The community was extensively trained on various skills. Agriculture Produce processing cum Marketing Complex was also constructed in the project area. Through a systematic community organization and result focused community participatory project monitoring and implementation approach, the project could succeed in a big way to improve the income and livelihoods of the community. Flour mill , coconut oil mill, women managed tailoring units, etc were implemented through scheme convergence of Block Panchayath, Kudumbasree in the marketing complex and a product sales outlet was also in operation. All products are marketed under a common brand name "NAAC" . Lease farming is also in practice in the area.
