Welcome to video number 8. Because I was slacking with video 7 last week, I thought I would upload a second video this week (Early) to make up for it. In this video I will demonstrate the Dell P2314H LCD monitor that I have discovered works in 15Khz mode with my Atari STE and home brew Colour/Mono switch box. This monitor is a 16:9 beast of a thing compared to the 4:3 aspect NEC monitors that are ubiquitous with 15khz support. The schematic is included in the video so you can pause and make your own (As long as you have a supported monitor) The output quality on the Dell monitor is amazing, if a little blocky, but that is to be expected .. We are looking at a 320 x 200 input signal on a 1920 x 1080 output panel! The next step is to try and remove the white borders as much as possible, without affecting demos and games that use overscan mode. - I should be able to use the inbuilt menu to expand horizontal and vertical sizes. The OSM (On screen menu) actually shows 50khz when the Atari STE is running in low res. This monitor should also work with any other machine that outputs an RGB signal. BBC, Amiga, Einstein (I will try it on this machine when mine arrives in the New Year!) etc. I also need to find a way of powering my external speakers at the same time as the STE (They are currently connected to the same power as my main PC, which is on a separate power strip to the retro machines) - Then I can do some game reviews with sound! :-) Either that, or I just get a huge 20 gang plug socket :O) - Can you even get those? Anyway Thanks for watching!!! I hope to bring more great things to you in the near future! Check out my blog at https://www.mikesretrotech.co.uk and please subscribe to this channel and give this video a thumbs up if you like it or a thumbs down if you don't! (Hey, I can't please everyone!!!) Cheers Mike.
