1. The clinical term ‘leontiasis ossea’ has often been applied to cases of fibrous dysplasia which affect the maxilla or facial bones and give the patient a leonine appearance. In Paget's disease, involvement of the facial bones is occasionally seen. Pigmenting oxides are added to obtain the various shades needed to simulate natural teeth. These coloring pigments are produced by fusing metallic oxides with fine glass and feldspar and then regrinding to a powder.
