In this repair video I diagnose and revive a Lenovo ThinkBook 15 G4 that arrived completely dead — no power, no charging, and no response on both USB-C charging ports. After the usual checks — CMOS reset, battery disconnect/reconnect, charging the empty battery, and verifying all major power rails — the laptop still refused to turn on and the main DC rail stayed in short. No burned components at first sight, no obvious liquid damage. So I escalated to a full motherboard removal and deep visual inspection. Once I flipped the board, the real fault finally revealed itself: A blown, carbonized capacitor sitting on the 20 V main power rail. But that wasn’t all — the second capacitor next to it showed discoloration and hairline cracks. After removing both capacitors, the main rail short disappeared. With the short cleared, I reconnected the USB-C charger and watched the PD controller finally negotiate 20 V. Pressed the reset button… and the ThinkBook came back to life instantly. This video shows: • How a tiny SMD capacitor can kill an entire laptop • How to track main rail shorts when no burn marks are visible • How USB-C PD negotiation behaves on a repaired system • Full diagnostic workflow for no-power Lenovo ThinkBook models • Real motherboard-level troubleshooting techniques used in professional repair labs If your Lenovo ThinkBook/G series/Yoga is dead, not charging or stuck at 5 V on USB-C, this repair guide will help you understand what’s happening on the main rails and what components to inspect first. #LenovoRepair #ThinkBook15G4 #LaptopRepair #MotherboardRepair #NoPowerFix #USBChargingIssue #ElectronicsRepair #ShortCircuitFix #BoardLevelRepair #iTechnician
