Song is the soul’s expression of freedom. After the splitting of the sea, Miriam led the people in song as their first act of freedom and prayer. Join SVIVAH to explore the power and impact of singing, music-making, composing, and song-sharing as a spiritual practice. We are excited to learn from (and listen to!) two of the most beautiful contemporary song leaders about how melody holds memory, accesses emotion, and speaks a language like no other. Chana Raskin of RAZA and Dr. Galeet Dardashti will share their language of song with us, their unique and stunning keys to the soul. Chana, with her wordless and meditative nigunim that have carried her through every part of her soul’s journey, and Galeet, with her Persian melodies of yearning and history that feel so salient today. Come if you love making music, listening to music, or if you want to explore a new language of the soul. No prior music experience necessary. As always, learners of all backgrounds are most welcome. Come when you can, stay till you can’t. But, come. We have so much to learn from you. Facilitated by SVIVAH's Director of Education, Rabbanit Aliza Sperling.
