Brugmansia, commonly called ‘Angles Trumpets’, are one of the most exotic looking flowering plants that can be grown. The giant tubular blooms of Brugmansia are often over 10cm wide and appear in shades of pink, red, yellow and orange. These popular plants have been cultivated for hundreds of years, with Brugmansia breeders still working to breed new colour forms today. Brugmansia can be easily grown in colder parts of the world with a little extra care. As Brugmansia originate from warm tropical and subtropical parts of the world, they have not evolved to deal with freezing temperatures. All parts of these plants are poisonous so care must be taken when handling them. Our Brugmansia cuttings have been rooting in water since autumn and are now ready to be potted on. We use recyclable 9cm pots and multipurpose compost to pot on the rooted cuttings. Brugmansia are hungry plants so will require lots of food during the growing season. High nitrogen fertiliser will help with early season vegetative growth. High potassium fertiliser will encourage flowering in summer and autumn.
