Even in the midst of a witchcraft revival, the history of witchcraft, witches, the supernatural & the occult is still shrouded in mystery. The Dark History of the Salem Witch Trials and the Ugly History of the Witch Hunts in Europe have cast a long shadow over the history of witchcraft & witches. For many, the history of witchcraft, the history of witches is simply the Burning Times, the trials & tortures of the Salem Witch Trials, Malleus Maleficarum (The Witch’s Hammer) & the witch hunts in Europe. Tragically, even for an ASMR witch or a practicing witch versed in the art of witchcraft, little is remembered of history’s witches, aside from the dark history of witchcraft. Yet, there is a hidden history of witchcraft to be unearthed, a happy history of witchcraft & magic that tells the truth of the lives of witches. The stories of witches from yore & yesteryear whose lives were bubbling over with the effervescent juices of jouissance & joie de vivre. Witches with a lust for life whose stories should also be told & retold as often as those of the witches (& falsely accused not witches) of the Burning Times, the dark history of the Salem Witch Trials, the ugly history of the witch hunts. Since much of the art of witchcraft rests with the power of the word, stories are important. So, when you visit this ASMR witch, be prepared to hear the success stories of the witches who reaped the harvests of their herbalist, potion-brewing witchcraft labors & applied their powers of magic to save humanity from an ice age, brew flying ointments from wolfsbane, cast love spells & establish schools for teaching magic & witchcraft. These are the (fictionalized) stories of witches past who were living their best witch lives, despite what the Brothers Grimm, Matthew Hopkins, or Cotton Mather might say. What’s the Scenario in this alternative history of witchcraft & witches? With All Hallows’ Eve (Halloween) approaching, you (a generational witch) suddenly remember that nearly an entire year has gone by since you visited Aunt Serafina. (Partially bc she’s a windbag crazy cat lady recluse & also bc you’ve been so busy potioning in the run-up to All Hallow’s Eve.) Ofc, Serafina is more than blissed out to see you & as usual is keen to share family stories of the wild witches in your ancestral line. Only this time, she has pictures she wants to show you (yep, one of those visits where you sift through old family photo albums). Hopefully, this photo album is unlike any you’ve seen before. The album is a flame-singed time capsule, a secret hiding place of an alternative history of witchcraft & witches (possibly even the secret feminist history of witches). As the witching hour approaches, you just might feel grateful to Aunt Serafina & thankful that you don’t need to consult 23&Me or Ancestry.com to trace your lineage & to learn that you’re an ancestral witch with blood ties to the Witch of Endor, Circe the witch, Tituba of Salem & other lesser known but no less inspiring bon vivant witches. (You also might feel jealous of your witch ancestors who may have had a lot more fun than you?) ASMR Elements= whispered & soft-spoken intimate conversation (fireside chat style), paper, cardboard & leathery sounds, show-n-tell explaining & storytelling set to background ambience of a witch’s cottage in the forest at night. This ASMR roleplay is intended to have the feel of a magazine flip-through type vid. Early on, the paper sounds were not so sonorous, so there’s a blip — hopefully it’s the only one you’ll notice & hopefully all the other sounds are relatively pleasant. I edited the sound to hit your ears as naturally as possible (e.g., no reverb & non-loud intruding sounds left in) for a more intimate feel & flow. There’s also an unfavorable lighting change @10:12 (the book is blocking the candle lighting my face) & I morph into a more archetypal Grimms’ Fairy Tale witch for a spell. Every fix for this looked (even more) unnatural & I was going for something approaching realism in this vid, despite its magical fantasy subject matter. …Speaking of magic & witchcraft, I recently acquired a fancy new camera that I’m still getting the swing of. This video may be over-the-top with the cuts & angle changes (maybe?), bc I’m having so much fun being able to zoom in & out with less fuzziness after shooting on a smart phone for so long! Sadly, for time's sake, I left out a lot of really fascinating witches & I'm curious which witches you feel deserve to have their stories told but didn’t get a turn? Maybe some male witches & non-Western witches? How do feel about the lack of formal intro on this video & just jumping straight into the action?
