The Cuillin of Skye are Britain's most technically challenging mountains well known for their Alpine like majesty and their wonderful climbing and scrambling opportunities. Great bastions of gabbro forged from the guts of an ancient volcano, they form a darkly atmospheric mountaineering arena that is intimidating and awe inspiring in the same breath. The southern tip of the Cuillins are known for the excellent scrambling and it was certainly found to be the case. This walk takes in the two central munros on The Cuillin Ridge, Isle of Skye, Sgurr a' Ghreadaidh and Sgurr a' Mhadaidh which are reached from the path starting at Glen Brittle youth hostel. The route into Coire a' Ghreadaidh and up onto the ridge at An Dorus is straight forwards and gives terrific views east down to Loch Coruisk. The climb out of An Dorus up onto the ridge towards Sgurr a' Mhadaidh was a straight forwards scramble, the initial climb out of An Dorus up onto the ridge towards Sgurr a Ghreadaidh is hard and steep but once on the ridge its a straight forwards scramble to the summit.
