Reflecting, Reviewing, Re-visioning Nesreen El-Nesr | Revisioning the Future: Empowering Deep Thinking with Thinking Routines Engaging learners has become the ultimate aim for most educators. To reach the level of full engagement and empowerment, routines of practicing thinking are needed to enrich the learning environments. This could simply be done by using the routines of visible thinking. Visible thinking emphasizes the use of thinking habits and documentation to make the thinking process more visible in the classroom. The main purpose is to engage learners in communities of practice intended to foster thinking skills. These thinking routines help learners of all ages to build close observations, organise their ideas to reason carefully and reflect on how they make sense of things. They are designed to be practical, easy to remember and to invite a broad range of thinking moods. Thinking routines provide a meaningful vehicle for designing environments to teaching thinking that develops students’ thinking dispositions, while at the same time deepening their understanding of topics they study. Some of these thinking routines are to be presented during this practical workshop where participants will: -Define thinking routines -Apply visible thinking through different activities (such as: I See I think I wonder; I used to think now I think; Present past and future; Red light, yellow light and Headline) -Create more related activities By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to invite their learners to go beyond what is superficial by empowering them to think deeper to easily revision their future. About Nesreen El-Nesr: Nesreen El-Nesr is an EFL and MOE supervisor and teachers’ trainer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Education; CELTA; TESOL and MCE certificates. She is accredited as a speaking examiner by Cambridge ESOL. She is certified as a trainer from USA, UK and KSA. She delivered professional presentations at different national and international conferences like TESOL International, IATEFL, TESOL Arabia, NileTESOL, and Innovation in Education.
