Verse 389,390,441,536 In this Satsang based on the Vivekachudamani, Swamiji discusses verses which speak about the Consciousness, the inner presence by virtue of which one knows other things, as well as oneself. He explains that a person who identifies the Consciousness everywhere and in everything is a Yogi of the highest order. The Consciousness or the ‘I’ (our own real identity) is within & without, in the front & the back, it is above as well as below, it is everywhere. There are waves, lather, and bubbles in the sea. Though these are many different formations, they are not different from water. In the same manner, there may be variety everywhere, but everything is nothing but the nectarine consciousness. The Consciousness may produce varietal experiences but everything is the Atma alone. The seeker must not miss the Consciousness in any perception or experience. The text also defines who a liberated man is. Many rivers flow down into the ocean and it receives all of them and is never agitated. In the same manner, when one is able to receive, welcome, and assimilate all interactional impacts without any inner mental turbulence or agitation, such an ascetic is considered to be liberated. This inner sublimation and equanimity is the sadhana for a seeker of Truth. Contented with the experience of constant bliss, he (the knower) is neither tormented nor elated by sensory interactions. He neither clings to them, nor he is averse to them. He always sports and delights in his own Self. Swamiji emphasizes that such a man is getting a delight which is above happiness & misery, respect & disrespect, gain & loss, birth & death, and all dualities. Being connected to the ‘I’, he lives a life of harmony, peace, and poise.
