Parents often ask: Can my baby have whole milk before age 1? 🥛👶🏽 In this video, I explain why I recommend waiting until 12 months before introducing whole cow’s milk as a drink. Here’s why waiting matters: 1️⃣ Whole milk is harder for infants to digest — the proteins and minerals can stress immature kidneys. 2️⃣ It lacks key nutrients, including iron and essential fatty acids, that are critical for brain growth and development in the first year of life. 👉 That’s why breastmilk or formula should remain your baby’s main drink until 12 months. After your baby’s first birthday, whole milk can be safely introduced. Before age one, tiny amounts of milk used in cooking or yogurt are usually okay — the proteins are already broken down and gentler on little tummies. 💡 Bottom line: Waiting until one helps keep your baby’s nutrition and development on the right track. ▶️ For more pediatrician-approved guidance, be sure to check out my Newborn & Infant Essentials playlist, where I cover infant feeding, safety, poop, and common parent questions.
