Did Jesus go through puberty at age 12? Most people have never considered this question — but Scripture gives us a powerful window into His development, and it teaches us so much about how to walk with our own children through this season. 💛 Luke 2:41–52 — a passage written by Dr. Luke, a physician — captures this moment with remarkable detail, giving us insight into Jesus’ physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual growth at this pivotal age. In this video, I share why I strongly believe Jesus at 12 years old was in the developmental window we now understand as puberty — and how this passage beautifully reflects what today’s science and pediatrics recognize as normal adolescent development. We look at: • Why Jesus at 12 fits the puberty window • How “He grew in wisdom and stature” reflects adolescent development • Why Mary and Joseph’s panic and stress is relatable for today’s parents • How curiosity, big questions, and independence are signs of growth — not always rebellion or disrespect • How Jesus’ obedience and submission encourages us that it is possible for our kids to do that when in puberty. • Why puberty is a season of discipleship, not alienation — a time to guide and not micromanage • How parents can stay present, calm, and grounded in grace Puberty doesn’t have to separate you from your child. With connection, grace, and God’s help, it can actually draw you closer. If this blessed you, be sure to check out my Puberty Series here on the channel.
