They will both cook at 375, so get them going at the same time. Put together the mac and cheese. Then place your cast iron skillet in the oven with 2 tbsp vegetable oil. Then put together the cornbread. Stick the mac and cheese and cornbread in the oven at the same time. 5. While they are cooking, begin to bread the chicken and heat your oil. Fry your chicken. If they mac and cornbread are out of the oven, then place the chicken in there to keep warm. Cut the oven off and just let it stay warm in the residual heat. If the oven is too hot, left it cool down to 200 F then place inside.
