Trains In England: 2024

This is a compilation of clips showing trains in England, recorded throughout 2024. During 2024 I managed a few trips to England (mostly the north-west and the south-east) where I was able to record some train scenes. The trips were planned to record some of the changes that have taken place on the network over the last few years, and to record some of the changes before they happen. My visit to Liverpool was an example of both. I managed to record six class 507s on the Northern Line before they were finally withdrawn, while also seeing the new Class 777s on all parts of the Merseyrail network. A double Class 777 set is seen in Kirkdale, while a visit to Headbolt Lane to see the battery Class 777s also took place. In Anglia I was able to see the new Stadler sets in operation, in both diesel and electric mode, while I also got to experience a South Western Railway Class 701 in service at Clapham Junction. When I was visiting Preston and Wigan in June, I managed to record Royal Mail Class 325s operating mail trains on the West Coast Mainline, never expecting it would be the last time I would see them. There is also some loco-hauled action in this video. In Preston there is a DB Cargo / Maritime Class 66 hauling a Royal Mail 325. Other 66s feature at Ely and Wigan on freight trains, while a Colas Class 70 appears in Oxenholme on an empty timber train. DRS 68s and an 88 are recorded in Preston (on container and nuclear trains), while a Freightliner Class 59 is seen in Redhill. Finally, Class 69s feature a few times in this video at Ely and Tonbridge, on Network Rail rail treatment trains and in a variety of liveries. Also at Tonbrdige, steam locomotive "Clan Line" is recorded on the Belmond Pullman, with a Class 67 on the rear of the train. A full chapter list of locations and trains featured appears below.
