One of Lufthansa’s time-honored A340-300s is finishing off his 11 hour 30 minute long haul journey from Frankfurt all the way to San José, the capital of beautiful Costa Rica. D-AIGP, a 1998-built Airbus A343 was making the trip to Central America pretty quickly, due to some advantageous wind bands over the Azores islands and the Atlantic and therefore approached the coastline just before sunset. Turning final, the sun lit up the beautiful, narrow engines of the aircraft, before it passed by some impressive clouds. Soon after the pilots made a firm touchdown on Runway 07, heavily decelerating the heavy aircraft and turning for a short taxi to the terminal building.
