Tick. Tick. Tick. You dropped a bomb on me - baby. We're talking meteorological bombs or bombogenesis for this week's weather word. I'm Storm Shield Meteorologist Jason Meyers. Bombogenesis is the formation of a low pressure system taken to the extreme, dropping 24 millibars in surface pressure in 24 hours. Storms like these are slightly more common during the cooler months of the year since temperature differences between latitudes are much greater. A strong jet stream also helps in their quick formation. Since these bombs undergo rapid intensification, they're usually associated with stronger winds and higher precipitation amounts. Either way, these are big storms worth noticing. What weather phenomenon are you dying to know more about? Tell me in the comments, tweet me, or message me on Storm Shield's Facebook page. Thanks for watching! Please like and subscribe. I'll see you next week! #WWOTW Find Storm Shield elsewhere on the internet: http://www.stormshieldapp.com / stormshieldapp / stormshieldapp Download the Storm Shield App: iPhone: http://bit.ly/stormshieldapp-ios30 Android: http://bit.ly/stormshieldapp-android
