Little Mount Romulus loop in Kananaskis November 5 2025 solo trip, using a fat bike for approach 12.5 km from the Little Elbow parking lot I was following the Scrambling in the Canadian Rockies by Alan Kane, third edition description of a route discovered by Bill Kerr, a fellow scramblers with Ramblers. His description was to shorten the bike approach up to a gully that goes sooner towards Mount Romulus, along a narrow canyon, then turns left and up, to be later using a traverse on a ledge. However due to the time limit, this time of year when it gets dark just after 5pm, once passed the narrow canyon I decided to save the day with panoramic views up the grassy slopes opposite to the route suggested by Bill Kerr. This was a straight up to a plateau above the treeline with nice panoramic views that I was able to take prior to getting dark as well as flurries started to fall. The descent was straight down (Eastwardly),( I didn't like the narrow canyon that was slippery with the frozen water in places ) Descending from 2186m, the first 200vertical meters were a mix of snow and grass, then I hit cliffs which required traversing with only two short 10meters retreating upwards. The traverse was quite long before I was able to safely continue downhill to the Little Elbow creek, easily traversed at this location and then back to my bike. The bike ride was a mix of pushing the bike and riding it, up to the bridge over Little Elbow river, due to verglass formed over the road due to snowfall melting, from which location the slow down angle ride to the parking lot. Enjoy the great panoramas and other footage including at the parking lot, along the bike trail, the canyon.
